Nice change from the city

Years at this apartment: 2000 - 2005
I moved into Franklin Commons in 2000 and stayed for about 4 1/2 years.
Before that, I lived in center city. So yes, I could hear my neighbors from time to time. And yes, every now and then I could hear various noises outside. But to me, it was much better than hearing those damn automated buses annoucing a stop outside my bedroom window. Or any of the other noises I heard in the city.
When I looked for an apt, I looked everywhere. and this really was the best bang for my buck. The apt's are a good size and the kitchens are much bigger than you'd find at just about any other apt.
The pool was also very nice. I spent most of my days in the summer there and I loved it.
All in all, my experiance was good. I heard of others who had troubles, but fortunately I didn't have any. In fact, I talked three other friends into moving in. And for the time they were there, they liked it too.
My only complaint is when it comes to breaking the lease. One friend lost his job and was unable to make rent. He needed to break the lease. But instead, they made him stay and bled him dry. I had a death in my family and had to move back home (to another state). They wouldn't let me out of the lease either. I think both of those were kinda hearless. But, I suppose, we did sign a contract and business is business.
Anyway, remember, you are living in an apt. So next time you ----- about how long it takes maintenance to respond to an issue or how they fixed the toilet, but didnt' clean up...try living in a house. When something goes wrong, you have to first find a plumber or whoever to fix it, pay for them to come out (mind you, if its a a night or weekend, you have to pay extra). And they aren't going to necessarily clean up your mess either.
The moral of the story....if you don't like apt living, save up and buy a house. If you think rent is expense, wait til you start paying a mortgage! P0MtU6TIdDkM23RTonAS
