Great First Apartment

I have not had any problems during my stay at these apartments that I don't think I would have had anywhere else. (Only this place was cheaper.)

Utilities are paid, but I have had some annoyances with them. The water pressure in the kitchen sink would get weak after running the water for about a minute, alittle odd but nothing that became a problem. The heat isn't enough to keep the room at or above room temperature sometimes and the windows in my unit are very drafty. I noticed the two bedroom units across from me had new windown put in. I wonder when ours was going to be upgraded. Our kitchen cabinets are a little worn, but still functional but I have noticed that they have been replacing cabinets in other units every week or so. Also, they have excellent pet policies (cats only) and give you the option of free pest control. (You have to sign a waiver to allow them in your apartment first) However, I have not had any pest problems.

I never had any problems with parking. Sometimes you don't always get to park as close to your front door as you want to, but it isn't going to kill anyone to walk an extra 10 feet.

My neighbors in my unit are mostly bachelors or windowers, they are friendly but usually keep to themselves. Most of them work all day, and are never home. If I am home alone with no TV or music on, I can hear the people above me walking around and sometimes arguing, but I don't think that's avoidable in any apartment building. It hasn't kept me wake at night, and if you have something else to listen to you can't hear it. It's not a disturbance.

The grounds are ok. Upkeep is great, but the overall appearence leaves something to be desired. But again, it's clean and well kept. There is a pool which I have not had the chance to take advantage of, but I have noticed that there was always someone maintaining it.

The parking lot and each doorway is well lit and the sidewalks (as far as I can tell) are clear and free of dangerous cracks.

I have not had any experiences that would lead me to believe this place is any less safe than any place else in the area. But you should never assume, no matter where you are, that there is not some illegal activity around you. Like anywhere else, I would suggest not to leave anything desirable in your cars, lock your doors and don't open your apartment to strangers. Common sense. But again, I haven't experienced anything to lead me to believe this building was "unsafe."

The quality of the apartment isn't anything amazing, but it's durable and functional. The bathroom has one of those bath-fitters over the tub and the paint build-up on the walls has to be about a 1/4 inch think. But this is just a small detail.

I have only had a few problems that required maintainence during my stay here. Each time, someone arrived and everything was fixed within an hour. The staff was always very friendly, and often planned community events in the courtyard for the children.

Overall, Grandview Gardens has been affordable and very reliable. I have considered renewing the lease, but have learned rent may be going up (and I assume this is happening everywhere) so I am exploring other options, though I wouldn't mind staying.
