What it's like to live at the Regency...

Rent is reasonable compared to other complexes in the area. However, not many improvements have been seen to warrant raising the rent (except for the replacement of EVERY shutter on EVERY building). The previous owners would also carry over any surplus from our electricity allotment. The new owners stopped that. Suddenly, we are paying extra per month. Seems kind of funny that we didn't beforehand (we never really had a big surplus that carried over during the winter). The first month this came into effect, we were hit with paying $70 extra! If you raise the rent because utilities are being raised, wouldn't you raise the electricity allotment' I don't use the heat much however my roommate does. But, I do use the A/C more then she does in the summer.

The space of the 2 bedroom apt is wonderful. Giant living room & kitchen & bedrooms are exactly the same size. Huge walk-in closets.

Maintenance' Ha! Now I'm laughing. We've had a revolving door of maintenance man in the last 4 years. None of them seem to want to stay. Gee, I wonder why! We must call them about 3 to 4 times a year about something. They are pretty quick to respond (except for removing the Xmas tree this past year) Renovations within the apt are shotty. Our bathroom tiles have been caulked and replaced numerous times. Had a problem with the dishwasher that they fixed (twice) and eventually replaced. Had a problem with the freezer. Was told nothing was wrong with it & that we 'packed our food wrong' (by head maintenance man) but was eventually replaced after complaining again. Haven't had problems with either since. Have complained about supposed gutters being filled and when it rains, it looks like a waterfall on our living room windows. Water has also seeped in during this and the heavy snowfalls and management was informed & said they couldn't do anything. Have complained about hornet's next in/around our living room A/C. We were told both things were looked at but was nothing done. The plowing of the parking lot is better now then when we had the prev owners of the apts. HOWEVER, the lot is NEVER salted AT ALL!! I'm handicapped and can't afford it get hurt. We have been told to salt a path to our cars (with salt the complex provides). Huh' I thought you managed the complex, not me' I pay for you to do that!

The manager...lol...oh wow. The manager talks to you like you are 2 years old and when you call about a problem (like the gutters/rain or ice/salting) you are given a song & dance and a bunch of BS. I'm handicapped and can't afford to hurt myself. I've already dealt with 2 tragedies last year and missed a lot of work. Can't afford that anymore. We had prior problems with break-ins the first year (2001) after moving in & our apt door was damaged. A new one was ordered but in the meantime, the manager didn't take extra precautions so we had a flimsy door for over a month. After writing a letter requesting an extra deadbolt to be installed, we were informed they couldn't. It wasn't until we complained again that they said corporate office wouldn?t let them install it.

Besides the snow/ice in the parking lots, other tenants leave cars w/o tags on the lot and management takes forever to respond. Also, other tenants CANNOT park and management is also notified. Is it so hard to write memo to your tenants' We also have people smoking in hallways and stairwells and leaving the butts all around.

We have 2 washers and dryers on each floor for 12 apartments. If you wait too long to do wash over the weekend, you are in trouble! Nobody seems to time how long the washer or dryer takes and leaves laundry in there for hours. Also, if something is wrong with the washer/dryer, management tells us to call the company that provides them for our use. Huh' I thought that was management?s job. Once again, isn't that what I pay rent for'

As for the outside, it seems like they never salt during the winter, but do plow. But for the summer, they are practically mowing the lawns every week! WHY' Does grass grow THAT fast'

I do love living here. Don?t get my wrong. I've had no problems with neighbors, except for the ones across the hall who constantly slam their door when they come home. We live in a corner apartment so we lucked out with neighbors. I can't really afford anything more then what I'm paying so I'm basically stuck here until something better and affordable comes along. Maybe one more year here and who knows what will happen'

My main concern with living here is that it seems like our concerns aren't taken seriously.
