not bad in comparison
From: -Anonymous-Date posted: 6/29/2005
Years at this apartment: 2002 - 2005
I have lived at Regency for over 3 years, and I have had my share of problems, but overall it's not bad in comparison to other places I've lived. The apartments are huge and the closet space is excellent. Parking isn't a problem during the day, but at night it can be pretty crowded. The main problem is the sap from the trees in the summer. I have complained to the office, and apparently "it doesn't seem to be a problem for anyone else". After a $200 detail job, the sap is gone... for now!
There are two women in the office. The one is sweet and appears concerned about my complaints. The other (office manager) is full of excuses and needs a "push" to get things done. She talks to me like I'm a child, and can be quite snippy. But, she does what I ask, and usually in a reasonable amount of time.
The buildings are old, and the electric and plumbing are in desperate need of replacement. I frequently get burned in the shower, and I have lost power about a dozen times in the past 3 years.
My big problem is bugs! Water bugs (enormous roach-like creatures!), and obese centipedes! When I complain, "it doesn't seem to be a problem for anyone else" and the complex doesn't offer exterminating. However, one of the rotating maintenance men will come by and drop off a can of bug spray, free of charge.
The maintenance men are friendly, but need a push to replace things, after they have unsuccessfully been "fixed" countless times. I have had a few emergencies, and they have been handled in a timely manner.
Luckily, noise hasn't been a big problem for me. I occasionally hear walking from above, but I hear nothing from below. I do however hear everything the people across the hall say and do, but they are nice people, just a bit loud.
The grounds are kept nice, no litter or overgrown shrubery, but the buildings are extremely outdated, and not very attractive.
The intercom system has never worked, but again "doesn't seem to be a problem for anyone else". F
or the most part, I feel safe, although I have been able to get into both my apartment and the building with a credit card when I have locked myself out. Lock your deadbolt!!!
Overall, it's not the greatest, but I'm in no rush to move out. I have been comfortable here for some time now, and even though I have issues with the management and owners of the property, I would recommend this as a decent place to live.
