This has been 4 years of hell with roaches. The office was advised by the BugMan to replace the stove since it was the source of the infestation we'd moved in on top of (and informed the office the very first night) and they flatly refused, claiming we had "too many possessions for the size of the unit".

Since when is it a crime to have things'

The roaches have destroyed 2 microwaves, 3 phones, a coffeemaker, and most of our other small kitchen appliances. We will also have to replace all our soft furniture (sofa, ottoman) since they have been damaged by flooding (we have been flooded 3 times at least).. the kids are constantly playing around with the sump pump and other utility fixtures.. but, although the office says they want to be informed of problems (ie, rat out the neighbors) this is only lip-service. Most problems are dismissed with "it's appartment living, get used to it" or "we'll send a letter"(that never gets sent ad nausem).

Mice were a known problem that we were not told about.. I discovered a "tin cat" repeating mousetrap under the sink. This was a cause for concern, since I did not want our cat catching or attempting to consume wild mice (to prevent illness).

One maintanence man in particular has been especially rude and nasty.. accusing us of "crying wolf" and grumbling that he didn't want to perform needed emergency repairs.. then did a half-assed job of it. However, his "personal friends" on the third floor had no problem getting their service with a smile.


There is high crime in this area, the "security doors" are constantly breeched by the other tennants who see them as an inconvenience, housekeeping shows up less than once monthly .. and the other "tennants" whose world revolves around them constantly throw garbage and rotting food "away".. in our hall. Passed out stangers in the hall, murder, hot and cold running people knocking and ringing at all hours .. and "kamakazi inspections" where the office staff feel they have a right to show up at any time without notice and demand entry does not make for peaceful enjoyment.

Stay away.. it's no bargain.
