I liked this apartment when I first moved here. However, the superintendent has about 3 children crammed into his apartment and they run all over the place. My carpet was filthy when I moved in, discolored and a cigarette burn in the living room, and I expressed concern because I had a crawling child. I was told not to worry about it, when I moved out there wouldn't be a charge because he (the manager) knew it was beat. I bought 5 x 8 rugs at Target for the high traffic areas to abate my concerns. When I moved out they took $300 of my security deposit - $100 of which was for cleaning the carpet! I know they removed that carpeting and replaced it, but that was not my concern. If they want to take $200 because they felt I didn't clean it appropriate to their standards, fine (though I think that's way too high). But that carpet charge was inappropriate. I called Lois and tried to talk to her about it, but she wouldn't even articulate a cognizant reponse. She just kept saying "the carpet was a mess!" in her smoker's voice. I have never wished ill on anyone but I do on Lois. Even if she didn't want to give me a dime back she could have showed some concern or sympathy or even some professionalism. Too pollyanna, I know. As someone mentioned there is only 1 washer/dryer per 3 floors. The children running around at all hours and with no parental supervision gave the place a low-class feel. I tried being friendly to them but they just stared at me. My ending result here just cast a negative pallor over my tenure here....it's a fine place to live, and Ken is very nice, but they take so much of your hard-earned security deposit that I can't recommend it.
