Large old apt bad mangmnt traffic noise dirty halls & grounds = Gov Sproul

When we looked to rent the apartment we were very excited. The sample we saw seemed more than adequate, very large and the price was right! The center grounds I thought would be a nice viewpoint from our balcany.

The apartment we were given was facing the street. Before we signed the least I questioned if it would be really noisy. The management staff claimed they NEVER had a complaint about noise and that the trees help be a sound barrior. Still skeptical but for some reason trusting, we signed the deal. What a mistake!

It became a nightmare, the day we moved in. Our kitchen sink and tub drain did not work. The carpets were dirty and had spots and wear markets. The cable lines are fed under the carpets so you have to walk over coaxial cable every day.

The walls are badly painted leaving chunks and entire sections missed. The countertops and kitchen floors had huge scratches all over. The crisper in the fridge was badly cracked. The lock on the main apt enterance sticks extremely badly to the point we have thought we wouldn?t be able to unlock the door.

We cannot open our windows unless we want to feel like we are standing in the center of a car race.

The hallways and enterances are in such bad repair that the door knobs are actually bashed in and the walls have huge scratches. Several times I have taken a step and felt the subfloor crumble into dust, underneath my foot. This leaves small hills to walk over as you go down the hallway. The hallways smell as if they have NEVER been cleaned. They smell so foul that I often wonder if this is the same oder the tenants in Jeffery Dahlmers building were smelling while Jeff was cooking up a new creation.

When we first moved in and I brought my issues to the management office they continually asked me what I expected from a 30 year old building!!! As if I was crazy to ask if they were planning on using soap & water or insane to ask if these issues would be fixed. They fixed our initial issues right away, because I refused to sign any other paperwork until they were completed.

I dread ever calling maintenence as they act like I am asking them for a favor. They are annoyed and unwilling to give me any timeline as to when things will be complete. I was home sick one day when I knew they were going to come and fix something. I asked them just to give me a call before they came over, so I wouldn't be surprised or in the shower when the maintenence person entered the apartment. (they refused to give me any idea what time they would show up) They refused and said that was not a reasonable request and that they can enter my apartment whenever they want. That if I wanted it fixed I wouldn't require them to call first.

They only do about 1/2 the snow removal that should be done to make it a save living environment. There is constant litter on the grounds and in the parking lots.

Living here reminds me of the homeless people you see living together in abandon buildings. Nothing is ever repaired, everything is old and broken, nothing is ever cleaned unless you do it yourself, and there is constant noise from traffic and other inconsiderate tenants.

Don?t move here unless your only requirement is to have a large apartment and you?re deaf.
