I was screwed so badly by management this past year that I couldn't even hire a lawyer to dig me out of the legal hole they threw me into.

It's all well and good to ask for a receipt when you drop off your rent check. However, they did not cash the check that I dropped off at the main office. When they did not cash the check, I did not have proof of having handed over a check. And the receipt that they gave us at the time of dropping off the receipt was supposedly forged by someone who didn't work there anymore.

Totally unacceptable... And without a cashed check, I'm dead in the water and there's nothing that a lawyer could do for me.

That happened TWICE during the one miserable year I lived in Governor's Sproul.

Upon moving out, the holes that a rat chewed in our rear screen door were blamed on us, despite the fact that I have pictures of the rat dangling from the screen door before he made his escape. Apparently since I didn't report it the second it happened, they can't accept it upon moving out. I also could not prove that the counter top was burned when we moved in because they did not give us a "Move-in checklist" when we moved in.

Management did not even want to work with me on these issues and repeatedly accused me of forgery and fraud. I had no legal grounds to stand on, so I was forced to pay late fees and court fees with no recourse of action.

I hope that these foul business practices catch up with this whole organization as I find it completely unacceptable to run a business in this manner. Trust me when I say to look elsewhere when apartment hunting.

I had a similar bad experience. The address of this place is really unclear. The street sign says "Parkway". The post office lists it as "Parkway Blvd" and the managers office will tell you its "Parkway" or Parkway Blvd", depending on what day you call. The management office building is either listed as "A" or "Atler" depending on whether your using USPS Fed EX or UPS The management offcie will tell you to use "A" or "Atler" in the address depending again on what day you call to ask for the correct address. Anyway I had arranged for my rent checks to be automatically deducted from my checking account, you know, online bill payment, because the people in the office give me the creeps and I don't like dropping off my checks with the manager. Plus I've heard the horror stories about lost checks. I got a notice from the manager stating that the rent was late and I was being charged a 10% late fee. I called her immediately and let her know that I'd just set up online bill pay, and the address that they'd given me was being reported as an address that doesn't exist by the bank. I asked her for the correct address and said I'd have another sent out. She received the check on the 14th of the month, which is late. I didn't argue the late fee. What I do have a problem with is that on the 15th I came home to find a notice taped to the door of my apartment that I was being sued in court for unpaid rent (mind you the manager had my rent the day before this). I had never been late with rent before and even though I'd explained what had happened and the manager had my check in her hand, SHE STILL FILED A COMPLAINT WITH THE COURT. Now she wants me to pay filing fees for the unnecessary complaint she filed (since she had the rent). That's how the manager here is.. Stay away from this place unless they replace the manager. Even then, I'd still be wary.
