As a tenant for the last four years, I am very satisfied. My apartment is my sanctuary. The complex has gorgeous landscaping, beautiful trees that have been here for over a century. The property is an old estate, and the avenue of evergreens once led to the original mansion. It's beautiful to walk through or just sit on a bench and read.
My apartment is a two bedroom unit on the second floor.
I have the fortune to have a kitchen with all new appliances, GE fridge, range and dishwasher. The bathroom is standard medium sized, with a small vanity, but there is room for an IKEA bath cabinet to extend storage. The shower pressure is great! The hall closet is large. One bedroom has a semi walk-in closet and the other a large deep closet with sliders. I have lots of sunlight and fresh air in the spring, summer and fall. My drapes provide a good amount of insulation in the winter. I wouldn't say the apartments are "air tight." The windows are double paned insulated but air leaks in. I sometimes use an oil radiator at night in the bedroom, but I am super sensitive to the cold.
There is no soundproofing, the floors are woodframe, not concrete. If your lifestyle is a loud one, it can be a drawback here. Particularly at night, it's very quiet. I've heard my neighbor coughing and sneezing with a cold!
As a rental option for a single young woman, it has been very nice. I would recommend Home Properties. You won't get luxury, but a good basic apartment home with lots of charm in a lovely setting and a fantastic location.
addendum: yes there was quite a bit of construction, repaving the parking lots. There was also asbestos removal from some of the buildings. I spoke with the contractors who were very professional. They answered all questions and when I further questioned the management re asbestos (old insulation around water pipes, which was typical for the time) I was satisfied that the work was being done safely and effectively.
Incidentally, no repaving construction began earlier than after 8 am, including any work done on the weekends. Maintenance is good, not poor, and management is investing in the complex by updating and repairing. Construction can be frustrating, but it is temporary. It's purpose is not to annoy tenants. It was done in a timely fashion, with plenty of forewarning from management and with good results.

Well, doesn't this review sound too good to be true. That is because it probably is, probably written by someone who works here.
I have met a person yet in this complex that likes it here.

?? What's a young, single woman doing with a 2-bedroom unit?
