I lived at the Mermont Plaza across the street, which is pretty much the same thing (same management) and had a horrible experience. To start, there was only one employee of Marks & Co. who was somewhat respectful and courteous to me, who was helpful. Other than that, the management has no regard for the fact that you pay an outrageous amount of money to live in a dump. They are all very rude and have no clue about customer service. In addition, they show poor ethics. You have to pay for parking, but they do not remove snow. Cars are stuck for days. It's also very dangerous...a friend of mine had to get stiches from a fall on the ice that lingered for weeks. While they do provide the legal amount of heat in the apartments, wind blows through the windows and air conditioners throughout the winter and they are very reluctant to fix the conditions, not to mention their failure to cover the cost of buying a space heater. I once came home to find that my apartment had been vandalized one day. No one has acess to my apartment except for employees...I had to have my locks changed in the middle of the night (they also refused to cover that cost). They also made no attempt to investigate who did a crime inside my apartment. Not only did I get absolutely no apology, I was not even permitted to break my lease when my personal safety was violated. I also had a time when water started pouring into my bedroom at 2 AM. The expensive rent does include 24 hour emergency maintnance. While my bedroom was being soaked in water, I was yelled at by the superintendent for waking him up. He told me he was in bed and there was nothing he could do about my problem. He wouldn't even come up to take a look and set up buckets to prevent my belongings from getting ruined. Did I mention how outright rude he was' Instead, I didn't sleep for 3 nights because I had to constantly mop up water on my floor. Part of my wall and molding from my window started to fall off. Only 3 days later did someone attempt to solve my problem. The actual maintnance staff is great. They work very hard and do always try their best to solve any problem you have...it's the management that is horrible.
