Has Its Pros and Cons, Like Any Other Apt. Complex

I've read all the other reviews and after living here for over a year (read: I renewed my lease) I suggest potential leasers to consider the pros and cons.
First--the earlier reviewers' concerns about trash, parking, elevators, and the theatre and pool are all correct. However, in the "big scheme" of things these concerns are relatively small.
The property manager, Peter, is a great guy. If you voice your concerns, he will do his best to resolve the matter. The office staff is in a tough position--their best point is their ability to lease the apartments; they do lack strength in their ability to correct problems that current residents have--mostly because they don't communicate with one another or with Peter when such an issue arises.
My biggest complaint with living here is the unfriendliness/discourteousness of my fellow leasers. At my previous apartment, other leasers would go out of their way to smile, say hello, hold open doors, and even help you move in/out! Here, everyone lives in their separate worlds and tries to pretend that no one else lives above/below/next to them. The complaints most often listed--trash problems, parking problems, noise complaints, etc.--are all due to this discourteousness. I think that this might be due to the fact that most lessees here rent in the "short-term" mindset--they are only here until they relocate, buy a house, etc.
Nevertheless, the office staff tries as best as they can, given their communication issues; the maintenance staff prioritizes their complaints as well as they can, given their staff size relative to the number of lessees; and neighbors generally open up if you make an effort.
Suffice it to say, like anything else in life, your time here will be what you make of it. There are always pros and cons with apartment living. The Summit is close to Philly, Wilmington, shopping, restaurants, hiking and swimming; it offers flexibility with lease terms and the advantages living in brand-new apartments--and compared to the other "brand-new" apartments in the area (read: Cornerstone Villas and Westtown-area apartments), the Summit is much less expensive. Just make sure you get good renters' insurance--three apartments were broken into last month and the Office/Maintenance denies all responsiblity, even though half the parking-area lights are out.
