Worst apartment experience ever.

Years at this apartment: 2005 - 2006
Main points of dissatisfaction: #1 reason for leaving this complex after a year' Rent was raised 16% across the whole complex. That meant over $200/month for my apartment. I was told this was to raise rent to "market value." $1200/month for a 1 bedroom apartment may be market value for other apartments in the area but not for these. #2 - Layout for the larger 1 bedroom is horrible. A useless electric fireplace occupied most of one wall in the living room, leaving few options for furniture arrangement. Bedroom and kitchen are tiny. I only had a full size bed and a regular sized chest and there was barely enough room to walk around the bed. Don't plan on being able to open your refrigerator or pantry doors all the way if you want to have a kitchen trash can and there is barely any cabinet space. Walk in closet space is small and made even smaller by the door that opens into the closet and blocks half of it. #3 - Residents are rude and messy. There was always trash and cigarette butts in the hallways and elevators. Doors were always slamming, even if the trash bin was empty, bags, boxes and old furniture were always littering the area. #4 - Leasing office is useless. They hardly answered the phone and on several occassions, they would pick up the phone and immediately hang it up. Messages were never returned. I kept getting notices that I owed money yet even though I always paid rent and utilities on time and in full. Even after several in person visits to the office (remember, they never pick up the phone and it's meaningless to leave a message), the staff couldn't tell me what I owed the complex for. This went on for several months until they finally cancelled it. #5 - There is no parking after 7PM and residents totally disregard the parking reserved for the disabled. #6 - Upon move-in, my apartment was infested with bugs, they were even falling out of the overhead heating/AC vents and it took a week to get the management to acknowledge it and schedule an extermination. Overall, this complex is overpriced and a nightmare considering the better living options in the area.
