It's alright...

First off, I want to say that the office staff are wonderful and friendly people.. So I've got nothing bad to say about them.
I figure I'll give a list of pros and cons..
Pros:
Nice layout
Allowed to have pets for the most part
Decent parking
Nice to have a color other than white on the walls and nice carpeting/tile
Overall, a lovely "neighborhood" to live in
Cons:
For around $1300 a month, this place should be spotless.. But instead, when we moved in a lot of stuff was broken (that maintenance never came to fix, despite me having put it down on the "Apartment Condition" form) and the place was NOT clean. When I say broken, I mean.. broken top lock, cracks all throughout the paint job, washer/dryer are garbage, our stove caught on fire because the previous tenants or whomever allowed grease to LAYER into the stove top pans, screen door broken, gotta be careful with the windows.. you may think they're closed after opening, but in fact they pop out of place and don't lock.. etc etc.. ok, anyway..
Crazy partying PTI students and snotty high school kids ... Yea, I know this isn't Ventana Hills' fault.. but come on, a 17 year old driving her OWN brand-new corvette like a bat out of hell around the parking lot is pretty annoying.. This statement is true for most of the Hummer, Mercedes Benz, BMW and Acura drivers up here.. if you're walking in the parking lot or even slowly backing out of your space, beware.
The walls and the ceilings are paper thin.. We live in the garden apartment and I can hear my upstairs neighbor doing EVERYTHING... From using his treadmill at 7 am, to walking around ALL night and using the bathroom.. I've lived in college apartments with more privacy than this place. He probably doesn't know that I can hear him ------- on a consistent basis.. Pretty embarrassing for all tenants involved.. ahem.
Speaking of garden apartment.. Don't get duped into living in one. It's the most expensive apartment Ventana has and we are constantly infested by spiders, centipedes, silverfish, etc. Nothing poisonous, but still pretty gross. We'd have it sprayed, but don't like the idea of having our pets around poison. The landscaping is nice, but it definitely plays a part in all of the bugs. Oh, and we have a plant growing out of our one bathroom sink.. We're rather cleanly and found that to be sort of odd.. haha
Overall, it's an okay place.. but personally, if I had the money I'd buy out the lease and move elsewhere. You can find a nice single-family home in a nearby area for much less a month and with much better upkeep and craftsmanship. I guess it's my fault for not researching enough before we moved here.. :\ I won't be renewing my lease.
Edit:
I recently received information that Ventana allows registered sex offenders to live in the apartments.. These offenders are men who have been charged with possession of child porn and/or trying to contact children for sexual purposes. (Look it up on Family Watchdog and the news stories are available online.) While I realize these people have the right to live SOMEWHERE, I can't fathom the feeling I would have as a parent if I was spending over $1000 a month to live in a 'luxury apartment' and my children were living right next to someone convicted of sex crimes against children. So much for criminal background checks and Ventana even informing residents of these men being in close vicinity of us. P0MtU6TIdDkM23RTonAS
