I currently live there and I think the office personnel are extremely rude. In November they gave us a flyer that said they will not accept packages during December or the beginning of January and to have them shipped to work or someone else's address.

My friend lived there for a year and I was added to the lease a few months ago. I was shocked I had to pay $50 for the background check not just on me, but it had to be paid on my friend that lived there a year already. And if you question the office staff why the person they are already leasing to needs another background check, they just roll their eyes and say it's policy (and if you request to see the policy they don't have it written like many of their other policies).

Furthermore, the mail delivery is aweful. The post office acts as rent control and will only deliver to people that Home Properties states are residents- the office actually provides a list of residents every week to the post office (another unwritten policy). Even though I am on the lease, my family still gets mail returned.

And I think the utilities bother everyone. I am very conservative with the use of heat and my bills are outrageous because they are "community" bills. I would like to see proof that they don't double charge us for the use of the community washer and dryers and the heating of hallways which we are not supposed to pay for.

My last gripe is the shuttle. I thought it was great until I discovered it only shows up about 2/3 the time leaving you walking the mile in back (sometimes in the rain) or running it, in your business clothes and with a laptop, to make the train.
