Be very aware of vindictive people who fail to pay their rent or otherwise get on the bad side of management. These people love to leave terrible reviews---it helps to boost their otherwise miserable self esteem. I always believe in what are so often neglected in biased reviews----FACTS! I am about to complete my eighth year here at Caln East. I am the kind of person that always has my eyes wide open and my mouth tightly shut----so I know what's going on here. Let me outlay the bottom line first----you owe it to yourself to visit Caln East and tour the apartments. Don't just stop with the tour-----ask anyone you see how they like living here. Almost everyone I know is very happy here. A few points about the other reviews. No parking lot lighting' There used to be none, but that changed about two years ago. Each parking lot has high pressure sodium lights sitting atop 18' poles----VERY effective and secure. They also serve the purpose WITHOUT making the parking lots look like a football field! I am not aware of anyone being bothered or harmed in any way during the eight years I have lived here. Two years ago the winter proved too much for the swimming pool and the bottom cracked---making the pool useless. Considering the pipes had broken under the pool, one of the solutions was to completely rebuild the pool. I was amazed that Caln East didn't just fill in the pool with dirt---they actually rebuilt it. By the way, For the past eight years my pool fees have NOT increased and I was given a refund the year that the pool was being repaired. Most of the time, due to people's work schedules, I have the pool to myself! Keep in mind that a certified lifeguard MUST be present every second when the pool is open---so our fees go to paying the lifeguard and for pool supplies and electricity to the pumps and filters. I have never heard of anyone getting in for FREE. "Maintenance fraternizes with select tenents" is simply NOT true. Scott (Maintanence Manager) has worked for Caln East for many, many years and once lived here in the complex. Years ago he decided to move out of the complex and into a home outside of town. While he lived here, his day was NEVER done, constantly getting phone calls and from tenants trying to get on his "good" side! The maintainence staff is openly friendly and show up when they say they will. I have had a few things go wrong, or break, and I have NEVER had an issue with the management or with the maintenance staff. Every problem I have encountered has been resolved immediately, and in a VERY professional manner. Keep in mind that repairs are (and should be) based on priority. A leaking faucet doesn't need attention as much as a leaking toilet, for example. Also keep in mind that Caln East is a small complex, built many years ago as a luxury apartment complex. Being older, (and BETTER BUILT), handicap access did not exist when the complex was constructed. Adding handicap access to the upper floors would be nearly impossible. A few of my neighbors are handicapped, and most of them live on the first floor where access is simple and easy. PRICE----compare, compare and compare again. Caln East IS very affordable and has one of the best locations of any complex in Chester County. Should something happen to your car---or if you don't own one, public transportation is a very short walk. Shopping is also a very short walk. It's only about three minutes to the Route 30 bypass---leading directly to Rt. 202. It's about 8 minutes to the PA Turnpike. Sorry this is so long, but I get very aggrevated when I read unfair reviews. Caln East is my home for now, and has been the last 8 years. I am very happy here and I have many friends who are also very happy here. When you visit, try to speak with Karen---she tells it like it is! I always appreciate and respect a person who is honest with me. After all, we're talking about your home. Speak with others who live here. Do your homework and you will form your own opinions---then you will be able to make a more educated and knowledgeable decision. I would like to add one more thing---safety. Caln East is, in my opinion, one of the safest communities in Chester County. A retirement community is directly accross the street from Caln East. It was completed in 2005 and now is a fully functional retirement community with apartments for those more able to get around and full seasonal activities for all residents. Being a community for the elderly (both mobile and immobile), safety sponsored events take place daily. The Downingtown Fire Marshall and the Downingtown Police visit the community daily to both protect and to educate the community. Being across the street, Caln East Apartments is under the watchful eye of all the emergency departments in Downingtown who are accustomed to responding to emergencies with the elderly. In my opinion, I couldn't be any safer!

This reeks of management pretending to be a tenant and posting. If someone had lived in a place for 8 years, they would not be searching for reviews of that same apartment building.
