i just moved in, and i wish i had found this site sooner. I have yet to have any problems with mice, although i have found a few creepy crawlies recently.
No one can find my apartment, the sign out front says the apartments start at a different number than what they do..so i have people driving up and down looking for my place.
the parking is a NIGHTMARE. You have to be on the lease to get a parking sticker for the lot, but what difference does it make' THERES NEVER ANY ROOM!
There is a SMALL dumpster in the parking lot behind my apartment, shared by perhaps fifty or so other UNITS. Garbage is collected once a week, and by the time the truck gets here, there is garbage piled to the TOP of the dumpster, beacause it is too small to hold all our garbage.
People constantly drive through the complex, late at night,with music blaring, screaming out windows (or at other people) obsceneties and things most of us really dont want or need to hear.
My neighbors are quite nice, although there are only three of them. My second day here, i came home to find a note taped to my door "please turn off your ceiling fan or get it repaired. it is so loud i cant sleep!" so i called maintence. they walked into my apartment, deemed it made no noise (it makes no noise here, but upstairs its very loud) and left. Repeated calls have done nothing, even once illiciting a response of "its not ceiling fan weather"
The heat, was turned on the 16th, and its HOT! After three weeks of freezing (and i have an infant..thats not good) they turn on the heat without notification. It is currently about 90 degrees in my bedroom..WITH A WINDOW FAN!
There are obvious patchy repair jobs, including a cracked wall corner..that has obviously been pathetically patched,and been given a "new" coat of paint.
From the day i moved in, my shower has been a problem. First, the shower curtian rod is so high, that a standard liner doesnt even reach the top of the tub! There are cracked tiles, and obvious attempts at fixing loose faucets by just slapping on extra caulk. My shower drain has been clogged since day 1 and maintence has yet to even respond. (draino hasnt worked on this)
the dishwasher is insanely loud, and my fridge sounds like its going to blow up. There is limited counter space..i have been able to fit a microwave and some bottles on the counter. THATS IT.
The cabinets are nice, although they seem to be shotty, as its nearly impossible to open one without use of a tool.
Also, there is something wrong with the floor. Its normal for places to settle..but EVERYONE (and i mean everyone) that comes into my apartment loses their balance in my kitchen, bedroom, closet (two of them) and my bathroom. The floor is quite uneven.
The place is relatively unsafe, i will NOT open my door for anyone (and i mean ANYONE) after dark. Pizza places wont come in the complex after sunset. There have been reports of break ins in BROAD DAYLIGHT, since i moved in on the first. Someones car was broken into WHILE THEY WERE OUTSIDE!
I have yet to go to the laundry facilities, as they are incredibly far away and rather expensive. with no car and a small child (especially one that cant walk) i dont recommend this..especially if you work, it will take you so long to do your laundry, you will end up walking back in the dark..which is something you should avoid at ALL costs.
I spoke to a woman that has lived here 26 years, and she said she had to move to a second floor apartment, because someone broke into her bedroom..WHILE SHE WAS IN IT. They REMOVED the window airconditioner and attempted to climb in.
This place could be better well maintained, and the units on washington lane are deceiving. BEWARE.
i recommend this only for college students, or those who truly cant afford anywhere else.
There is an upside, there is convinent shopping, and the school district is top notch.
