I agree that the good reviews are very suspicious – especially when you take a look at some of them. I also agree that while its not terrible, it certainly is not a positive experience to live at Marchwood Apartments. Why should a person have to dread EVER having to deal with the management' That is simply unfair. (Dont even TRY to say thats a tenants fault, either. We should be treated with respect no matter what – but especially when we treat them nicely.) And that many people are not wrong about this – there must be something the staff is doing that this many people have complained about them being rude and obnoxious. I dont get it – why dont they appreciate the fact that the tenants even existing in the first place is the whole reason they are there to do a job'
Anyway, enough of that. The parking is fair, not great. The park area is ok, adequate for kids. The buildings are well-lit, for the most part. The security is ok for apartments that are ones you walk right into, but for apartments where you are in a building with other apartment units, there is NO security – no intercom, no key for the front door, nothing. Thats a little scary. The rent is cheap enough, but the utilities are HIGH, especially considering its an apartment and not a great big house or anything. I know people who do live in large houses whose electric bills are lower than mine. The apartment is generally in ok shape and there is enough space in the bedrooms, etc, though the structures are cheap, of course. No major maintenance issues for me, though, I have to be honest. The place is at least clean and decent, and the rent is not high, so if you dont care about incredibly rude and obnoxious leasing office staff who will make life difficult for you whenever you have the misfortune to have to deal with them, then go ahead and move in. If you dont want the aggravation, then stay away.
One issue regarding the leasing staff is this business with automaticalluy renewing leases. They put a clause in saying that the lease will automatically renew for another term unless the tenant gives a written response to the contrary within the time period requested when they give written notice of automatic renewal. However, the fact is that the time period is less than a week. I can guarantee that there are people who have gotten stuck still living there a whole extra year because of this kind of tactic. I would like to actually have an attorney go over that. Furthermore, there are so many things in the lease that they never mention to you before you sign it – and tell me, once you have already planned to move somewhere, are you really going to refuse to sign the lease at that point' Of course not, especially because you might at that point really need to move and have no place else to go.
Remember when you are suspect of the bad reviews that this is where people heave to LIVE. We have enough stress at work and in our relationships, etc – why should we be subject to any further stress when dealing with the management of the place we have to call our home' Why cant that go smoothly'

I really wish I'd read these ratings before my fiance and I moved in. The office staff are really rude, and haven't done a thing to help us with maintenence. we're moving out at the end of the month.
