I wanted to wait until we were here for awhile before I wrote my review. We came in the summer of 2008. . .
*I haven't had any problems with the staff as other posters, and most of my maintenance concerns are handled promptly.
*The laundry rooms are horrible as others have posted. They are dirty & dangerous (big holes in the middle where the drain should be covered and they are wet & slippery). Takes a long time to repair broken ones. You do have to run your clothes through the dryer an extra 20 min unless it was recently repaired (which means it costs $3.50 to wash and dry 1 load and they are small loads!!!)
*BUGS - Last summer when we first came we had centipedes in our apartment almost daily. They went away around September. I am PRAYING they don't come back. This spring we are battling ants. I am constantly vacuuming the carpet and scrubbing my kitchen floor to keep them out.
*Utilities are HIGH. I know that Marchwood can't control PECO's rates, but thought I should warn everyone. We moved here from a large 3 bedroom house with den and basement to a 2 bedroom apartment and our electric and gas are DOUBLE the price. I never would have guessed that. I wish Marchwood would invest in high efficiency furnaces and hot water heaters. If you are moving here from further away (as we did), know that the cost of living is very high here.
*We haven't had any issues with safety as other posters.
*We can sometimes here our neighbors above us walking, flushing their toilet, running their disposal or vacuum. . . but we can't hear them talking.
*Overall, I would say the apartments aren't anything special (apart from the location)
We may be moving out of state for my husband's job, and I am now looking at other places. The price that we pay for our little two bedroom here will gets us a 3 bedroom townhouse with garage and washer & dryer there. mgFDbN4-dhkSMZ7zRmVH

Thanks for being so honest. We were considering renting furnished for a month in order to visit grandchildren, but are so glad to come upon this web site and get the low down on this place. We did not have to pay an application fee, but they required $100 of the $500 deposit to hold the place (we were coming in Aug 2009). We did not sign the lease and asked for our money back but Heather refused. She said although we did not pay an application fee, the $100 was a reservation fee!!??$$%^%$ Thank goodness that is all we lost on this dump of a property.

OMG, $100 for a "reservation fee"? Is she kidding? That is insane. Regarding this review and the subject of the utilities, although it's true that Marchwood doesn't CONTROL the PECO rates, the reason the rates are so outrageous is because of the incredibly poor insulation in these buildings.
