Decent -- but too expensive for what you get

Years at this apartment: 2000 - 2002
We moved into Whiteland West two years ago. The community is nice -- a decent mix of retirees and younger couples. The community is secluded, yet convenient to shopping and the highway -- nice landscaping, plenty of trees, and a few ponds to sit and relax. Also, a nice loop for walking.
The apartment was adequate. We had the one bedroom and den -- the den was VERY small -- the master bedroom was nice. The bathroom was decent -- full-sized washer/dryer. Kitchen was large (for apartments) -- plenty of counter space and a huge pantry. Nice porch & adequate storage (even get your own storage locker). Good management office staff.
I only have three gripes -- first, you have to pay for pool membership, which is expensive! Second, you have to install your own mini-blinds (cost us $300-400 upon move in because of the large, odd-shaped windows.) Third, the renewal rates are pretty high -- $35 the first year and $55 the next. We figured for the amount we are playing for renewal, we might as well upgrade to a larger apartment in another community.
