OK, but certainly not luxury

I live currently (until August)in a 1 bedroom unit. We're leaving because it's not a good value and for slightly more than what we pay in rent, $945, we are buying a townhouse. Electric ran about 150 in winter but there are units with cathedral ceilings that I can imagine run much higher. The windows are terrible, they leak air constantly. Maintenance is mediocre at best, I needed a new screen door when I moved in, I had to wait 3 weeks to get it and when it came they installed it incorrectly also one of my bedroom windows hasn't opened in 7 months despite several calls. Closet space in my unit is poor and all the appliances in my unit are 13 years old (unlike the model where they are all new). On the plus side, the grounds are nice and certainly more appealing than a normal apartment complex, parking is ample, and the complex seems safe and secure. This winter plowing/salting was average except for the big storm where each resident was left to carve out his own space. Yes, you must drive to the dumpster. I admit this is annoying, however it does keep bugs, odors, vermin and banging noises away from 95% of the units so it's probably a push. The only real hassle is when you have a large amount of trash at once, holidays, Christmas, etc. I haven't been to the pool yet, it closed on Labor Day, one week after I moved in and hasn't opened up yet, May 27th. Overall I'd give the place a B-. It's OK but don't come in expecting a palace, the management hasn't bothered us much, nor have my neighbors. The term "luxury" is rather amusing as the only real amenity is the pool, which is closed 9 months a year. The pond is nice, so are the trees and the variety of birds, it's better than looking at a parking lot. Also, though this is no fault of the complex, the mail service is erratic, some days lots of mail other days none, we don't think they come every day even though they are supposed to. Plus the local postmaster hasn't figured out the previous tenants have moved away yet and I still get some of their mail even though I've left multiple notes for the postman. For an aparment complex it's decent, but if you figure it's about $1,000+ to live here there are newer complexes around and many townhouses which would have similar mortgage payments Qlkxv6lfLuuXn3BrtpO7
