I've been here three years, and am now on my 3rd property manager. First there was the senile old woman, then the in-over-her-head young lady, and now my new neighbor is the new PM, and she seems competant enough, but there's just two much gone wrong. They've let in some Section 8, and it's a big complex, so for every couple hardworking families in a tough spot, there's some scumbag who's getting a free ride living next door. Since I moved in:
It took 2 years to get the fan in the bathroom fixed, and the paint was destroyed by mildew; there are also mildew problem on the windows because they are metal and get wet easy in the cold.
The windows were never replaced, although many are cracked and we complained endlessly.
The apartment as a whole stays pretty warm in the winter except the master bedroom, which is always freezing, probably because of the crappy windows.
My one friend had her jeans stolen from the dryer downstairs (locks on the laundry door doesn't mean anything if the scumbags live in your building.)
Another friend had her roof cave in.
My roommates car was broken into and his hockey gear stolen.
My car was broken into and my stereo boosted. The cop who took my report says he gets a call about once a month, and when he does catch a crook, they always live there.
There are some shady people who live here and hang out on your steps, and even the new property managers kids are brats.
We originally moved in because it was cheap, but every time we renewed the lease they added $50, and when we wanted a 6-month extension instead of a full year, they tacked on another $50.
My old roommate moved to a different apartment, and they charged him $300 to stay in the complex, to keep his business! You'd think they'd try and reward good tenants.
Instead, come the end of this lease, I am GONE.
