affordable and pet friendly, but not the greatest place to live

The amount of space you get for the rent price is good. I lived in a 2 bd for a little over a year. I got a really good rate on the rent when I moved in. My options were limited because of my dog. They take dogs up to 50lbs. It's a good place for dogs, there is a lot of grassy area. I liked the location. I was right off of a main road. I didn't feel unsafe at all. My neighbors were nice and quiet. I didn't have any problems there. The apartments are very old and noisy. I was on the third floor, so it didn't bother me that much. You can hear everytime a door opens or someone is on the stairs. There is no insulation. If you stand within 4-5 ft of the sliding glass door in the winter it feels like it is open. You will see a lot of apartments with plastic on their windows in the winter. My biggest problem was the air conditioning. Mine did not work at all. In the really hot days of summer, my apartment was above 90 degrees inside. It was really awful. They were there to "fix" it twice, but it made no difference. My neighbor across the hall didn't seem to have a problem, so I guess all apartments don't have this problem. During the fall and spring months, it was great. With all windows and the sliding door open, my apartment got a great cross breeze. Another problem I had on the third floor was water stains. When it would rain really hard, I would get brown spots on the walls and ceilings. They would say they fixed the problem and then paint over the spots, but it kept happening with every heavy rain, so I can't see how they fixed anything. A few other reviews talked about centipedes. I saw about 3 the whole time I lived there, which isn't a bid deal. I had to end my second year lease early due to a new job out of state. They allowed me to do this, but made me pay an extra 3 months rent even though i gave over 60 days notice. I thought that was extremely too much to pay with that much notice.
