I grew up in Harrisburg and lived here most of my life but like so many others never heard about Executive House except through word of mouth. I recently moved back to the area from Los Angeles and spent months scouring the city for apartments, from small, private riverfront rentals to larger buildings like Old City Hall. Then I checked out this place and was really blown away - not because it is some gorgeous, luxurious building (which it is not) but because it is the closest thing you'll find to big city living in a place like Harrisburg for an absolute STEAL.

I just got a top floor one bedroom apartment with an enormous balcony overlooking the south side of the city for $750 - all utilities included. Indoor parking for 60 bucks a month, are you kidding me' I was also impressed by the overall quality within the apartment itself with additional windows in the kitchen, bedroom and bathroom. The carpet will be completely replaced and the walls painted as is customary with each new tenant. The leasing agent Anna Marie is one of the sweetest and most helpful sales people I have ever met. She was a breath of fresh air compared to the rude and arrogant staff I met at the other big apartment building down the street.

If there are any drawbacks it's that some areas are definately dated. The overall facade, the hallways and the elevator could use a facelift to add to the building's image. If they did this I'm sure they could raise the rents significantly as this is it's only drawback. The downstairs laundry room is pretty run down, you see some seedy characters around the block and hear a few ambulances but it kind of just adds to its urban feel. Overall, this building offers clean, adequate spaces that with the right paint, furniture and imagination can make really stellar apartments. A comperable apartment in California would cost me 4 times as much.
