My family and I moved into La Collina after a horrible experience with another rental place intown (the Terraces at Springford). The rent at La Collina is less than otherplaces that we have found and a better value for the money. There is no pool wich seems to be the standard in the area, but the townhouse style three bedroom is worth the trade.
The best thing going for it is thier apartment manager Jill. I dont know who was there before her, or who was there when the other people wrote thier reviews bashing the staff, but Jill does an exceptional job, and I hope she stays on with the company. The apartments have handed out doghnuts and coffee and juice to its residents on a dreary day at the entrance to the community (car side delivery) and even sponsered a movie at the park night, with free popcorn.
The neighborhood is nice enough looking and it is tucked in behind some state buildings and agencys where you wouldnt expect to find it. It has great access to the interstate but only has one way in and out of the community. That coupled with it being where you wouldn't expect to find a residential community makes it feel like a safe place to live.
The one writer that said that there were a lot of kids and teenagers just "hanging out" was very much correct, so if this is a major problem for you, then this may not be the right place. I have children myself, and do let them go outside (there is a nice little park there for them) and some of the kids have picked on them, and there has been fights. This doesn't bother me when its little kids being little kids, but adults should watch the teenagers getting into trouble they shouldn't be in.
Over all it is a good community and after I get done with law school, If I stay in the area, my wife and I plan to stay with this community for a few more years before getting a house.
I recommend this place.
