I need to move out of this apartment, this place is horrible. I have been here for three months so-far. My rent total in my lease is $690, and they will add a $5 trash fee, and my water with that. But the bills they are sending me are over $800 . I live in a one bedroom, with one other person and a dog, there is no way in hell that we use over $100 in water each month!! I went to the office today to explain that I cannot afford this place anymore. The mean older blond lady (anyone who has lived here knows who I mean) told me that I will be charged an additional 4 months rent after I leave. So when I said I can't afford that she said, "well, just go put it on your credit card." I have had enough of this place I need to get out, so I was hoping that someone could give me advice on how to do it. Please Please Please help me.

Wow, I'm so sorry to hear about your situation. You might want to take your lease to be viewed by either an attorney or someone who has legal experience in real estate or landlord law. Sometimes a lease can be somewhat ambiguous... maybe you can find a loop hole somewhere.
If not, sadly your only options are to either stick it out for the duration of your lease or pay the money and find another place to live. Also, make sure that you thoroughly understand the notice procedure so that there are no problems when it's time to give your notice to move out. When it comes time for you to leave, I would SEND ALL CORRESPONDENCE to the rental office via CERTIFIED LETTER and keep all copies. That way, they can not say that they "never received" your notice to move out. Keeping copies of all letters, requests & correspondences submitted to the management office is always a good idea as a rule of thumb.
I'd recommend living where I did before I bought my home (the first place listed on the ratings list, Williamsburg Estates), but they don't take dogs (which is why I moved there initially - I have severe pet allergies).
Good luck to you!

Yes you will get charged 4months total. 2 months rent and 2 month penalty fee. I hated that ---- hole too and they always sent bills for over 900 to me trying to get me to pay trash which in my lease stated it was included. read your lease carefully and i would complain about the nasty hag in the office..she is RUDE

Hey thank you, I'm glad somebody else knows what I was going through, good news is that I am outta there, but got stuck with over $2800 in penalties, and lost my security deposit which was other $1400 and change. Funny thing is, when I went back te last time there were only 2 apartments rented out of 16 in my building, so that makes me feel better knowing that they're not getting much business. HaHa.
