Not Worth It

My boyfriend and I have lived at Humphrey Court since December 2006. At first it was o.k. The woman in the office on-site Kathy, was a really nice lady. Of course it didn't last as I will explain. The next lady who came in was a total disaster. Rude, condescending and a waste of time. She is now gone along with the office at the apartment. Now the apartment is run by a young woman over at Colonial Glen. When I first spoke with her she said that things would change and that the apartment was under a "new management". Things changed for the worse. We used to pay $580 for our one bedroom apartment. Then it went to $640 (prices with $20 discount if paid before 1st of month). When we went to re-new it, it was raised to $700 something. Not worth it! I've been looking at other apartments that offer more amenities, in a safer neighborhood, with cheaper prices. Safety is a joke. As a citizen anyone has the right to go to the Dauphin county police department and find out exactly how many times and why police officers have been called to visit the location. So if you don't believe me, research it. It's all there. I've had to call numerous times due to drug activity and during the winter time someone was attempting to break into cars! The laundry facility is in the basement. Please, please! Look at this place! I will of course post another review with picture showing. There is mold everywhere and good luck doing your laundry. I used to do mine there. The machines broke frequently and it was not uncommon to come downstairs to discover your clothes in the trash. Parking for where we lived was horrendous. People who parked in front of our building didn't even live there. They lived in the other buildings but refused to walk a flight of stairs, down or up, so they took our spots. It gets old really fast when you have to walk past two apartment buildings before you get to your own. Oh and when I spoke to the leasing lady I warned her about raising prices so high due to the economy. Of course I was told it was none of my business. Needless to say in the last two months I have seen 5 moving trucks. My next door neighbor was one of the first to leave. So please do your research. Research your safety. If you value your car and possessions, don't move here. I can't count how many times the cars have been vandalized or keyed or dinged up from the children who ride their bikes or play basketball and pay no heed to other people's property. And drive slow. The kids don't watch where they go or get out of the way of cars even though it is a parking lot not their backyard. Thank goodness we moved. We're paying less than what our newly raised rent would be for a three bedroom house. Look through the newspaper and do the research. Oh and the cherry on the top. I paid $140 average electricity during the summer because their "attempts" to fixing our AC unit was preposterous. For the years we spent living there and the numerous times they promised to replace it, it still didn't happen. They tried to resolve the situation by giving us some money to pay our ridiculous electricity bill, which wasn't even 1/6th of it. And to verify I'm not lying when you go visit the place during the warm weather, go downstairs into the laundry room and look at the speed of the electricity of all the apartments. And then compare it to your current one. And you also have the ability of calling PPL and finding out the history of how much the tenant before you paid for their monthly bill. It will astound you. If anyone has any questions or disagreements I'll be more than happy to reply. I will check back in a couple of days or so. Good luck!
