We have been at Pennswood for awhile. And we have found an awesome house we are going to buy. Well, as far as I understood it, our lease was 1 year for the first year and then it rolled over, but was month to month from then on. Pennswood requires a 60-day notice prior to moving out. And I also just found out that in addition to that, if you are not at the end of your lease when you do it, you are also charged a 60-day penalty for breaking your lease. How much money do they need for us to move out. Heck they'll have someone in there in 1 month or less. And I'm sure we're not getting back our security deposit, so there's another month rent they get to keep. So they are getting 5 months rent when most places only require 1 month notice and no penalty. What butt heads. Stay away at all costs.

Most places I know require 60. Why don't you do some work on your end and get someone to sublet it? Maybe post on Craigslist and find some kid who needs a place for awhile.. that'd save you $$$.

I too face the same problem rightnow, I have been living there for 4years one month and my lease got renewed in june and I got a job transfer to other state and I gave notice of leaving, as per their document 60days, but I was shocked they want extra 2months rent for breaking the lease. It's terrible talking with them, they threaten me "you want to go to court, go ahead, you signed while you entering the lease" So I cannot move my family for another couple of months and all of above I have to pay 2months rent for nothing. I think it is better everyone stay out of this Apartment and avoid any offering they do to come into their apartment. Pennswood is a MoneySucker Apartment. I haven't seen such a horrible management, I never liked there service at all for all these 4years. Since it was near to my office I stayed all these years. My advice stay out of this MoneySucker.
