i had to leave because I lost my job. now they want over 3000 dollars. i lived there 3 years. they want 2 months rent because i gave 3 weeks notice. i am on month to month since the one year lease was over 2 years ago. SO I ONLY OWE 1 MONTH. THEN THEY WANT A 2 MONTH PENALTY FOR MOVING AWAY. is that legal' then they replaced my carpet they say. 1000 for that. not a thing wrong with it.

i think they do this because they know they can garnish your wages if you don't pay it. How about a class action suit against them for illegal restraint for not letting you move away.

They do this all the time. The management does so many illegal things to their tenants. What you need to do is get a lawyer because everyone that has gotten a lawyer has gotten out of paying them these ridiculous fees. Anytime someone moves out, they repalce the carpet, or claim they replaced the carpet and charge people. My neighbor moved out and they charged her for her carpet needing replaced, but I was talking to the maintenance people who had mentioned the carpet didn't need replaced.
