Worth every penny

Years at this apartment: 2001 - 2006
I moved to Springford Apartments from NYC. In NY I paid just under $1,000 for a small 1BR Apt. My NY apt had a small living room and no dining room. I had to listen to my neighbors two children running overhead every day, and I had to drive around for 15 - 25 minutes looking for a parking spot.
Here at Springford, I have a large 2BR apt for $720. My starting rent was $695. I do not feel that $25 in two years is excessive. I have a large living room, a dining room, a patio, 1 1/2 baths, a full sized washer & dryer, microwave, dishwasher, disposal, ceiling fans, central air/heat and parking in front of my door. I don't hear any noise from my neighbors at all. Some times I forget some-one lives upstairs.
The landscaping is well maintained. The maintenace crew does a great job with snow removal. This winter was crazy with snow, but our guys handled every snow fall like champs. Maintenance responds to calls for repair within 48 hours.
The women in the rental/management office are all very nice and competent. They arrange community gatherings, and they will also sign for your UPS or Fedex packages.
I almost forgot to mention that we have a gym, pool, sauna, jacuzzi, locker rooms with showers, club house, business center, childrens play area, pond, nature trail, lighted tennis and basket ball courts. All which are free to tenants.
My only issue is my heating bill in the winter months. The walls do not appear to have very good insulation, and the heating unit takes a while to heat the apartment. My living room/dining area is almost always cool. I think this is due to the cold walls, cold patio doors, the size of the room, and being on the ground floor (heat rises). However, the summer months are great. I used the A/C unit only 4 times this summer. I only used it on those occasions because I had guest who were warm.
Whenever I move out of Springford, it will not be due to any fault of theirs. Harrisburg as a city is devoid of culture and quality employment oportunities. I only wish I could take Springford with me when I leave.
