Beauty and Wonder

My wife and I fell in love with "Rosedale" the moment we saw it, and still feel that way two and a half years later. The grounds and building exteriors are absolutely picturesque, the management is top-notch, and 99% of the neighbors are wonderful. The property-manager is a genuinely kind, caring person, and has always been willing to work with us when we had an emergency that made paying the rent in full difficult, or had a maintenance issue. For example, the washer/dryers were not initially vented out when they were first installed, but the management- and maintenance-teams listened to the tenants, and are in the process of venting them out. They're also wonderful when it comes to pets, they don't seem to have any breed restrictions (though I'm not 100% sure on that), and we never worry that the maintenance crew might accidentally let our cat out. Speaking of maintenance, they're wonderful, always willing to check problems out ASAP, and never slack on maintaining the grounds.
Other stand-out features include a beautiful pool, tons of (unassigned) parking, lots of lush greenery, and the little patches of gardens that tenants are allowed to use freely (i.e., you are allowed to grow whatever flowers or fruits/veggies you wish). There are also two nice gazebos, a weight-room, tennis courts, community BBQ grills, and assorted chairs and benches around the grounds.
We really don't have any major complaints, though in fairness, I do feel it important to list a few minor short-comings: First, while Hershey is an absolutely gorgeous (and fun!) town, it does come with a LOT of taxes; in addition, being a tourist-destination, the main roads around the town can become awfully congested during Summer weekends. We've also had nothing but problems with "Penn State: Hershey Med Center", which is easily the worst hospital we've ever encountered. Granted, these have nothing to do with the apartments themselves, but they are things one would have to deal with upon deciding to live there. As for the apartments themselves, the one-bedrooms are a bit under-sized (or over-priced) in comparison to other complexes in the area, and they're a bit short on closet-/storage-space, though the two-bed/two-baths are huge and provide plenty of storage. The one-bedroom also doesn't come with a dishwasher. Some of the "finishing touches" on the apartments are also a bit touchy, as things like caulking around cabinets can be a bit shoddy at times (it works, but isn't left with a clean, professional look), faucet handles can end-up turning in opposite directions, floor-tiles can be laid down unevenly, etc. In our opinion, these things aren't a big deal, but your mileage may vary.
Overall, though, the place is an absolute joy to live in, and despite some of the extra expenses that have made us want to move recently (township taxes, being quite far from my job), we always end-up deciding to stay. We couldn't be happier coming home here, due in equal parts to the beauty of the complex, and the trifecta of wonderful management, maintenance, and neighbors.
