Ok, here it is, an honest, insidious agenda free, review of this place: Hallways do reek of cigarette stench, most (not all) but most tenants are smokers. Smoke from neighboring tenants' units easily seeps into adjoining units, leaving that vacant bowling alley smell all over. What's more disgusting however, and this is NO LIE...is that the units are so poorly designed that when a neighboring tenant is...relieving his/herself on the toilet, the stench can seep into an adjoining unit and if the wafting human waste stench is strong enough, it can smell as if your neighbor is taking a ---- in YOUR bathroom!!! Compound that with apartment wide cigarette smoke drift and that's about as putrid as you can get when to comes to apartment faults. Factor in the reality that your paying rent for this, and the situation can easily push you to boiling rage.
Visually the apartment interiors aren't any more run down than comparable apartments in this area (in the $425 plus rent range). Most units/apartments here are over 40 years old with the exception of a few "recent" ones that were built in the 80's. However, the main problem(s) with this place are parking, overall cheap construction and the utterly piss poor ventilation system (if it can even be called such). A single wall unit a/c in the LR for a 1 BR apartment is neither practical or efficient. Pennsylvania summers are humid and nauseating, with weeks of stagnant air offset only by an occasional day of about only 50% humidity - so a single OLD a/c underscores the shoddy construction of this place.
The best thing about this place: location (not as in "Irwin's the place to be"- but rather, the close proximity factor to restaurants, a major grocery store, theaters, the turnpike, malls, etc..) Then again, the blaring sound of fog horns from 18 wheeler gas tank haulers parking at 3 a.m. and cutting loose on the horn for 15 minutes at a time always presents a recurring and highly annoying noise problem.
Overall I can't advise living here or renting from the Villages of Easton (AR Building Co.) However, I also can't advise renting from any other similar type place in the area - apartments in Jeanette, Monroeville, Greensburg and etc..are just as old, ugly, rundown and overpriced as these ---- boxes.

Chicora...you think highly of the management because your situation was resolved in your favor.
As a former tenant who had similar (unresolvable) problems as the poster of this thread, I would have to agree with the evaluation.
BTW, it was only in enlisting legal services that was I able to get out from under my situation - the management here was unresponsive. (With the exception of notifying me of their early termination fees).
Also, your "it's not always about you" comment on smoking was very foolish and selfish. Smokers' disregard for their own health infringes not only upon the rights of non-smokers to breathe clean air, but also to maintain a smoke-odor free residence. Both tenants pay rent, but the non-smoker who has to contend with the off shoot the smoker's bad habit is short changed.
Next time you feel the need to make an intelligent statement on an issue, make sure you've examined the facts first.

Guess I won't be looking at Villages of Easton for an apartment. In the overall scheme of things, I haven't seen much construction invested along Route 22 or 30 east of Pittsburgh in a long time. Also, there are fewer apartment complexes that will accept pets now (a stray cat adopted me awhile back).
