As a college graduate and former City of Pittsburgh resident, I have lived in my share of run down apartments dictated by nasty slum lords who take advantage of tenants because they feel so entitled. I have payed twice as much rent for a facility overrun with filth and cockroaches and received little sympathy when I contacted my landlord about my problems. Thus, I am very pleased with the VOE complex, as it is a very comfortable place to live. The apartments are bright and spacious, not to mention the recent addition of new windows and entryway carpeting. On top of that, the rental office staff is friendly and efficient, letting new tenants know all of the terms of the lease up front, making sure they understand everything about the complex, from the rental procedures, to the great extras like the free pool and weight room. In addition to the clarity of living terms presented by the staff, they are very proficient with maintaining the facility if a problem arrises. For instance, each time I have called with a maintenance concern, it has been dealt with in a timely manner. The Villages of Easton apartments employees regard the tennants with the utmost respect and professionalism.

Sounds like someone bought into the live near campus nonsense. And, forked over a lot for the "well known to be garbage", seriously overpriced, Oakland area roach motels. That is your fault - it's just like the people who pay exorbitantly high rent for ocean front property - except Oakland, PA is a grey eyesore dump in the middle of rustburgh.
Yes there are worse places (lived in some myself), but that's the learning process. Factoring in price and location, you learn to expect certain things for the dollars your shelling out.
But! the new windows at VOE are nice. However, outside mandatory painting and carpet replacements, it's the first renovation in 40 years! (for some complexes).
But if you like this place then that's all that matters.
