My friend is looking to move into the Lancaster area and during her search online she came across this site. I was surprised to get a phone call from her telling me the awful things she'd read about my apartment complex online. Obviously out of curiousity I had to get on here and see what was being said. I must say I'm apalled with what I've read and I don't agree at all. I have lived at Bentley Ridge since 2004 with my dog and we absolutely love it. Ever since I moved in the staff has been so nice to me. The few problems I've had over the past five years have been taken care of almost immediately by the maintenance guys. My neighbors are nice and friendly. The pool is my favorite place to be in the summer and they just purchased brand new equipment for the gym that I use all the time! All the posts about the staff not caring about the residents is so not true. Every year they throw a big resident party at the pool with food and games and stuff. I guess the complainers have never attended that. One month a year or two ago I won the early bird drawing that they advertised in the newsletter and got $100 off my rent! The complainers probably don't pay their rent on time, let alone early. As far as not being pet-friendly that's not true either! When I moved in, the ladies in the office couldn't wait to meet my dog and even now I still take her into the office for treats sometimes and they're always happy to see her.

I would never have gotten on this site if my friend hadn't told me about it. I didn't even know it existed. Unfortunately that's usually the case. The only people who are going to get on here are people that have had something bad happen to them that's most likely been brought on by their own irresponsibility - like the pet owners that don't pick up after their dogs! So before you take these posts to the bank, consider that you're probably not getting the whole story. Just someone's bitter stab at a community that doesn't deserve it.

Ok, you want positive feedback without bashing the residents? I loved living at Bentley Ridge. I agree, rent is very high, and that's the reason I'm not living there anymore. However, my boyfriend lives just through the treeline at Oakview and pays nearly as much for his one bedroom as my roommate and I paid for our two bedroom, so it seems Bentley isn't the only pricey place in the area. Look at the proximity to the outlets, Rte. 30 and many other perks and you'll understand why you're paying so much. My roommate and her dog were very happy living here, and never felt discriminated against. There is plenty of grassy space for dogs to run and from our experience, everyone kept their pets under control. Yes, pet waste was an issue, and you always had to watch where you walk, but this is not an issue with the management. I do agree that something needs to be done. However, understand that at Bentley Ridge, you're not paying a monthly pet rent, unlike every single apartment complex in the area. The office did lose one of my rent checks, but after I called and calmly explained what happened, they removed the penalty fee and apologized. It sounds like this hasn't been the case for others, so I'm not sure if this was an isolated event. Overall, the grounds are nice, the apartments are more spacious than you'd find elsewhere, there are plenty of perks, and the maintenance staff is friendly and prompt. I'm sorry if others haven't had a good experience, but if you're that upset, why are you still living there? Posting about it on a ratings forum isn't going to change anything. I'd suggest taking your complaints to the management company. NOT the local office, but to High Associates. The only way to get results is to make your voice heard by the right people. Good luck!

OK..I added a mixed review a few months back after the nasty pet letter. And BTW we always pay our rent on time and do not make a mess of the community since we are two rather senior adults who are not at all like that. I stand by my opinion that that letter was one of the rudest pushiest things I've ever read. It assumed we residents weren't picking up after our pets and blamed all of us for it. Threatened all of us with huge fines, even those of us who only have INDOOR pets like cats. We were told to spy on our neighbors and report anyone who didn't clean up after their dog. Now really who has the time or energy to snoop on our neighbors and do such a thing? Not me. Plus I try to consider my neighbors friends and don't want to cause them trouble. The only type of thing I would ever report is illegal behavior or extreme noise. I have never had to report those things here. SOOOO...On the whole I do love Bentley Ridge. The area is beautiful to walk around. The buildings are maintained pretty well and I have always only had courteous maintenance men who came the day called about any problem. I love the ducks and swans. It's like living in a park here. The problem is with the office staff at times. They try to be polite but a few of them need a visit to some kind of professional 'charm school'. Lately...I guess since the negative reviews here they are trying to be really nice. I hope it sticks! And the pet letter was nasty and uncalled for. But all in all Bentley is a nice place.

Well you have just proved the point that tenants are treated differently and there is a discrimination issue at Bentlet Ridge, Thank You for that! And you are right, the 4 hour annual community party is something you don't want to miss, the one year I went I had the time of my life! HAHA! The ice scraper gift was a piece of garbage made in china, Seriously, why even bother? And I loved the little gold coin taped to a piece of paper and placed on everyone's door for St. Patrick's Day that alone was worth the $30 monthly rent increase annually. The only person that trimmed the hedges outside of my apartment for 2 years was ME! How about not handing out ice scrapers (I did not see 1 person using their's last winter) or gold coins taped to paper and do a little landscaping?

Ever heard the expression "If the shoe fits?" If it doesn't fit, why be so up in arms about it. Harsh words calling me a hypocrite. As far as pet owners, maybe we live on different sides of the community but I see residents that are not picking up after their pets. People that I know live here. I know exactly what I'm talking about. I even asked one guy if he'd like me to lend him a bag as he proceeded to walk back to his apartment leaving his dogs pile behind. It's not nosy to tell the office about that. People should be responsible. How else are they supposed to address it if no one tells them. If the peoople that I see were picking up their dog's crap, I wouldn't attack them. If you're picking up after your dog...then I wasn't talking to you.

WOW all of you guys are making some valid points the rent is too high. I have lived here for two years and they wanted to raise my rent to stay in one of the old villages, when I was able to move to the newer buildings with better appliances and double the space for the same amount. Like I couldn't belive that they were serious.
