I currently live in Clock Towers; I have been there for almost 4 years. It is a beautiful, historic building. The units are all very unique. Most are 2 bedrooms, though some have 1 or 3. Many have high ceilings. There is a club room (with TV, pool tables) and a Fitness Center (with weights, treadmills, hot-tub). It is a fun place to live and the people are generally very friendly. It seems to appeal to the younger crowd and older crowd. Middle-aged folks may tend to live elsewhere because a condo/apt is not the best place for children (or large pets).

This is very encouraging. I looked at a unit for sale in the Clock Towers building today and discovered the monthly association fee was $430. It's had to imgine what services could be provided (aside from maid and laundry service) for that fee.

I have lived at Clock Towers for almost three years and have no idea what you mean by 'laundry service'. I would like to know what your realtor told you. $430 is the price you pay for not having to be concerned with any exterior repairs & improvements. You enjoy the grounds, not maintain them. You take out your trash when you please, without leaving the building if you choose. Dont have to remember to get it to the curb on pickup day. No snow shovelling. You have to remember that this is a national registry historic building and they are not cheap to maintain -- however, the building is as solid as a rock & depending on your location within it, can be very thrifty on heating & cooling bills. Its an easy walk to downtown Lancaster for dining & entertainment -- even better if you work downtown, you can leave the car in the parking lot.

$430/month = $5,160/year. That is a lot to pay a year for a few conveniences. Seeing as that condo is listed on craigslist for 85k, with 20% down your mortgage would be ~$410. Something is not right when you are paying more than your mortgage payment for "mainainance". Someone is making some $$$... my 0.02 ...
