Good value for the buck

Years at this apartment: 2002 - 2007
I lived at Hershey Heritage for 5 years until having to relocate for my job. As with any apartment, there were pros and cons.
The pros were my apartment was very clean when I moved in and very spacious (over 1,000 SF for just a one-bedroom)! Great location....smack between Rt. 741 and the city of Lancaster which was very convenient and very safe. I never felt unsafe or saw any riff-raff come and go from the grounds. The office staff was very courteous and accommodating and maintenance always came out right away when called upon. I loved the large walk-in closets in the living room and bedroom. Kitchens came fully equipped, including a large stove-top microwave oven and fridge. There was lots of pantry space in the kitchen as well. The apartment also came with a nice, full-sized washer and dryer that were tucked away behind folding doors right outside the kitchen area. The bedrooms are very nice size and the apartment as a whole was very well-lit due to the number of windows. They have a very large, nice pool and kiddie pool for use in the summertime.
The cons were that some of the small fixtures were broken by previous residents and only super-glued back on instead of replaced (the bathroom faucet cap and microwave oven handle) so of course they broke off again in time. Also, cold air would seep through the bottom of the balcony door in the winter, making it cold in my dining area, so I had to put a rolled-up towel down to prevent the cold from coming in. I happened to live in a building with mostly older folks and although they were very nice, some of them were VERY NOSY. One time I had a rental vehicle because my own car was in the shop and one of the neighbors called security and my rental got slapped with a warning about parking without a permit and to move it into the visitor's section or it would be towed. Geez, I didn't know I had to get permission from the neighbors to park in my own spot when I got a rental! One time I was 3 days past the expiration on my registration for my car and was waiting for the sticker to arrive in the mail, even though I had a temporary registration print-out from the internet and that same neighbor called security and had my vehicle ticketed AGAIN! I know this because one of the other neighbors knocked on my door one night and told me that this guy mentioned to him that he did it! GET A LIFE, BUDDY! And finally, (but not really management's fault), my next door neighbor was going through a divorce so some nights he would drunk dial his ex and scream and curse her out, waking up all the neighbors. Let's just say the walls are quite thin, so be cautious of speaking too loud or any "nocturnal" activities because the neighbors will hear you. That aside, overall as a whole, I enjoyed my experience at Hershey Heritage and would recommend them to anyone looking to move there. Just be careful of the bluehairs and check the fixtures yourself before you move in. Enjoy!
