Apartments are heated with gas, and leaks occur often. When I lived here, I notified management that I smelled gas. They inspected and found nothing, smelled nothing. I called the gas company to come and inspect. They found three gas leaks in the apartment. A few were near the cooking range, which was old. On a sad note, a tenant?s baby was rushed to the hospital one morning with gas inhalation, and an elderly gentleman was hospitalized from the same problem. I count myself lucky that I sustained no known permanent damage from this inhalation, though I was often lightheaded there, and somewhat sickly.



Another issue is that tenants aren?t screened thoroughly enough for violent and criminal behavior background. Not like their monetary record is screened. During my last months there, police were showing up there EVERY NIGHT for one incident or another. I agree that excons have to live somewhere, but not in a building closely shared by hundreds of other tenants. Maintenance personell are not screened well either. The one with the drinking problem was much preferable to the one who replaced him, who was a shameless thief. Items went missing, and ceiling tiles were left boldly ajar. Apparantly, the maintenance BOY was looking for my ?stash? and didn?t even bother to cover his tracks. Atleast he didn?t last. Anyway, the apartments, while relatively spacious, receive little sunlight and can be considered unsafe. mgFDbN4-dhkSMZ7zRmVH
