Nice Apartments, but underlies problems

This may be long, but it's a full review
from my viewpoint.

Here's a brief synopsis of below:
Negatives: Rude/sneaky maintenance men, rude office manager, nosy/rude neighbors, violation of rights, snow issues, trash issues.
Positives: Great apartments, knowledgeable maintenance men, some office staff are nice.

There are many many things I'm leaving out of this, because otherwise it would be a ten page statement.
I lived here for one year. I loved the apartment I originally lived in and loved the complex. However, as time went by, flaws began to show. It's usually in the worst of times, that you realize what the true nature of a place entails.

Snow/Ice Issues: In the wintertime, forget it. They don't clean the snow off of the parking lots and the sidewalks are encased in ice. I don't know how many times I fell down. I can't imagine the older residents and their escapades with the snow and ice. At one point, the old apartment manager, sent out this nasty memo to the complex that said that they were doing the best they can and to stop complaining. It also accused everyone that if they really wanted the lots plowed, that we had to move our cars.
Can I ask where they would like us to move them' Plus, don't we need to know when they are plowing and maybe we could move the cars for that time period''
As it was, you couldn't park in half the spots because they were covered in piles of snow and ice.
We're paying enough to live there, I think they can pay to keep us safe from ice.

Then, the worst happend to my apartment..it burnt down. I would like to point out..that I didn't do it. I wasn't even home when it occurred. I do have to give props to the complex for the initial reactions. They moved us to another apartment. They gave us a bag of clothing and stuff. They were really nice about it, initially. Afterall, my apartment's residents were a nervous devastated wreck.
However, shortly after we moved into the new building, problems started. This building's water pressure stunk (but I bought a shower head to fix that). The kitchen was different, the maintenance men quickly started being RUDE....and the neighbors were jerks.
Neighbors:
At one point my one roommate and I were carrying this heavy tv up the stairs (3rd floor) and one neighbor came out and looked at us and started laughing and said "Hey why don't you bring that into my apartment!" and walked onto his floor and didn't help. Then, I locked myself out of my apartment on the first day, had my cat in a cat carrier as I hadn't gone in yet, and was waiting for the key. The lady across the hall opens her door and says to me "You know you can't have animals in the hallway." Mind you, the cat was IN the carrier and I was just minding my own business.
My old building's residents were very pleasant and I enjoyed living near them. It was a mix of younger/older people in that one.
Trash Issues:
At first, the idea of haivng a trash room (on the bottom floor) seemed a great idea. You didn't ever have to leave your building, except to recycle.
However, once we went to the new building, which was on the opposite side of the complex from the dumpster, it really wasn't so great anymore.
For one, they only had ONE dumpster on the very opposite side of the complex. This is where you had to recycle or if you had a lot of trash, put the rest of your trash. You couldn't drive through the complex so you have to drive onto line street turn right onto cowpath, and go back into the complex and around the block.
Don't put boxes down in the trash room, or you'll hear it from the office managers. You need to take boxes, or any other large items to the dumpster. (defeats the point of a trash room, I'd have to say)

Sneaky/Rude maintenance men:
We didn't have any furniture or anything really as it all was destroyed a week before in the fire. We were sleeping on airbeds in the living room since our rooms were creepy with nothing in them. My friend stayed overnight with us to keep us company. The maintenance men came over, I guess to drop off some stuff for the third roommate, and saw us. Next thing I know, I recieve a call from the office manager saying that we were a "flop house." I didn't know what a flop house was, but i was ticked once I learned what it did mean. The office manager then tried to tell us that we weren't allowed to have visitors over and that we couldn't do this or that. Total violation of my rights as a person. All this occurred maybe 10 days after our lives were destroyed in the fire. Not a good time to harass people, especially over something we can't control. One of my friends told us that she would write a letter documenting our rights as tenants (she's a lawyer) to the complex because what they were doing was wrong. I said not to, because I didn't want to cause even more problems.

The final straw was when we were moving out. My one roommate and I had cleaned the entire apartment and had to take a lot of trash to the dumpster. So, we loaded it onto dolly's and pushed it across the complex at about 2pm. We put our recycling away and put the 8 bags of trash about, into the dumpster.
Next thing we know, we get the comment from the office "The maintenance men said you were sneaking trash into the trash area and you filled up the trashcans" What the ''''
For one, we weren't sneaking (as the office is right there and the maintenance men were outside, and it was broad daylight), second, where would they propose we stuck our trash' I know where I'd like to stick it.....

This type of harassment occurred from October until end of our lease back in May and while two of us moved out (the third roommate opted to stay in the complex because she wasn't being harassed..because she's older, I believe).

I did love the size of the apartments, they were great. If you end up in a good building with nice neighbors, congratulations. I want, personally, an apology for the crud that complex put myself and my one roommate through. We weren't the cause of the fire in any way, we never did anything against lease policy, we weren't noisy, and we never deserved the snarkiness and treatment that your maintenance men and the original office manager reaped upon us. They treated my third roommate like a god for no apparent reason except that she was 10 years older than us and is closer to the office staff's age. The new office manager is rather nice, but she still was the one who brought up the trash issue so it shows that she can be as two-faced as the old office manager.

If you are younger than 30, don't move into the complex.
I will NEVER recommend this complex to anyone and if I felt compelled to, I'd probably bring up a lawsuit for harassment against them.
