Living at Valley Stream has been a great experience. Management (especially Kathy) is very responsive and polite. Request for maintenance is generally completed within a 2 day timeframe. The complex is very quiet, and there is a great mix of young, old and various ethnic groups. Parking is really good, you have an assigned spot per apartment and there is an abundance of visitor parking spots. Also a very safe apartment and a really convenient location. The apartment itself is really spacious and beautiful. Don't be fooled by the outside look of the apartment complex, you'll be surprised at what you find inside, spacious, sunny apartments.
Nothing, especially not an apartment, is perfect. There have been some drainage issue, the sink in the master bedroom, and the drainage for both bathrooms tend to take a while for the water to go down. Maintenance came in, but the issue still creeps back up, just buy some drano. A little annoying but not that bad. Also, there has been nasty brown stuff coming up the kitchen sink, again stemming from the drainage issue. The walls are a bit thin, at least in terms of hearing the people above you. I can actually hear my upstairs neighbor snoring (annoying), and you can hear when they take showers.
Other than that, the apartments are really great. They tend to have really good specials, and employer discounts (we saved about $200 per month on the original apt price with the special and employer discount combined) and its great that heat is included in the rent. Am relocating for work or I would have certainly renewed my lease! A really good overall renting experience!
