Unlivable - can't sleep because of noise!

If your peace of mind, livelihood, and sanity are of any value to you whatsoever I warn you not to move here! You will hear everything your neighbors say and do. And by everything, I mean EVERYTHING!
Let me start off by stating some positives. The Maintenance Department is very friendly, some of the nicest people I met while living there, and they re good at what they do. The apartments are clean, spacious, well maintained, and the neighborhood is safe.
Now everything else:
I lived in Macungie Village for about 3 years as long as I possibly could, before I felt as though I would lose my mind spending one more night in my own apartment, and was literally driven out due to unfortunate circumstances outside of my control.
I lived in a 1 bedroom upstairs unit. During the 3 years that I lived there I was subjected to the most disturbing, personal noises that you could imagine. I was woken from my sleep dozens of times and constantly felt violated, to the point that I no longer even wanted to be in my own home - I even resorted to sleeping at friends' houses. The source of the noise was always the apartment directly below mine a 1st floor 1 bedroom with the exact same floor plan. During the time I lived at Macungie village I had 2 different neighbors in this unit below me. The first was a single middle-aged woman who lived alone. After she moved out (over 2 years into my stay) a family with a young child moved in.
Any noise that either of these neighbors in the apartment below me made was so loud that it literally sounded as though they were in the room with me. During my time at Macungie Village I got to hear: word-for-word telephone conversations, songs on the radio (so loud that I could tell what song was playing), blasting television programs, alarm clocks, married couple yelling/fighting, children crying, children whining, snoring, farting, burping, coughing, use of the toilet, and, most disturbing of all, sexual encounters, sexual dirty talk , and people climaxing.
It was to the point that these people were not neighbors, they were irritating, disrespectful roommates. The first neighbor (the single lady) was bearable, but only because she was a working professional (like me) and we were on similar schedules (sleep-wise) and she almost always left on weekends (this was great). Once the family (yes, management let a 3-person FAMILY with 2 dogs move into a 1 BEDROOM) moved in and I got to listen to the child screaming, the dad (who was ALWAYS home) screaming at the child, their dogs, the dad screaming at the dogs, their TV, the dad snoring (which woke me up several times EACH NIGHT), and everything else .I had had it. I unwillingly experienced their most intimate moments with them. Words cannot do justice on how uncomfortable and mentally tormented living in Macungie Village made me feel.
After the family moved in, I contacted the Leasing Office and Property Management office on numerous occasions. I made phone calls and wrote letters of complaint. They initially drafted a letter of complaint to the family asking them to keep it down. Obviously this didn t work the problem wasn t the neighbors, it s the structural integrity of the apartments. Because the noise continued after the letter, I contacted the leasing office again - their response was that those who have quiet neighbors are "lucky" and that I was unfortunately a victim of "bad luck." After that point, NOTHING WAS DONE. The Property Manager even told me that I "must just be sensitive to noise, why don t you wear earplugs ' Why should I wear earplugs in my OWN apartment that I pay $900 for per month (other thing this place is way OVERPRICED)' I tried explaining that I didn t think the neighbors were the problem, and that something was wrong with the building itself. I asked them to please conduct sound testing (maybe there was an open HVAC vent or something'). They didn t do one thing. Essentially, they wrote me off, and wiped their hands clean of any responsibility over their complex. They take no accountability whatsoever.
I strongly suggest that you steer clear of Macungie Village.
