Bedbugs, unprofessional management, nightmare

There are many problems with this complex. First, the apartments are shoddily constructed- noise travels easily, and security doors are never engaged. now, here is the major concern- bedbugs were present in two of the buildings. My roommate and I got bedbugs from an apartment below (again, the walls and floors are not sound/odor/bug proof here), and although the complex did the required exterminations, we had to throw out all of our belongings, and between us, were out over $8000. Even the regional management refused to compensate us, and property and regional management were both rude and unprofessional in dealing with us. This situation had us held hostage in our apartment for 2 months, being bitten by bugs. We were told that we could break our lease if we really wanted to, but that we would spread bugs if we left. When we decided to give up and leave, they "let" us break the leaase but we had to pay a 2 month penalty. We told them that we still had some bedbugs, and one of the managers actually had the nerve to say "but they're dying!" (this was after 7 weeks of living with this, and unsuccessful exterminations). The bottom line is- they do rent to a lot of immigrants, who tend to be the source of bedbugs, and there were definitely bedbugs in at least 2 buildings when we finally moved out. Bedbugs could happen anywhere, I suppose- but these people were truly calous in dealing with us, and we were seriously traumatized by the experience of being bitten, throwing out all of our things, having to be paranoid about whether bugs were going to follow us to our new place, and having to fight with the management constantly for two months. We had to seek counseling and take sleeping pills, and at times, commute from our homes 2 hours away to go to work. The management does NOT CARE about its residents. They are a shady, shady corporation, and I warn anyone even thinking about moving here to just find somewhere else.. there are lots of communities in the area, and even if, God forbid, you got bedbugs somewhere else, they probably wouldn't be as nasty as these people. DON"T RISK IT!!!!!!!
