You get what you pay for at Belle Terre. Cheap rent = cheap workmanship. Everything is rigged from floor to ceiling. The list of shoddy work is endless, in fact I don't even know where to start. The kitchen (and bathroom) cabinets have water damage on almost all corners, are scratched, and look ancient. The drawers are not secure in their tracks. When you pull then out too far they just fall on the floor. The counter tops in bathroom and kitchen are painted over to hide imperfections (so look nice when you move in). After only a couple of scrubbings, the paint starts to chip off. The molding around the base of the walls is falling off. The paint on the walls is all over the door molding and looks like it was done by 5 year olds. The AC/Heat is a large unit on the wall in the living room, which is the only source of heat/ac in the apartment. It has a small duct back to the bedroom that the air doesn't travel well through, leaving the bedroom hot (in summer) and cold (in winter). Some of my friends have compared this unit to those in hotels. It is controlled by two knobs, similar to those in a vehicle. One for the temperature (red to blue) and one for the speed (high, med, low). It is either way too hot or way too cold. There is no comfort zone. It shoots my electricity bill through the roof!! I live on ground floor and have to use space heaters in the winter just to keep my bedroom and bathroom comfortable. There is absolutely no heat/ac in the bathroom. Yes, that's right: NO HEAT in the bathroom. This makes for miserable showers in the winter. The water heater is so small that you run out of water after about 10 minutes in the shower. Forget about taking a nice hot bath. There would never be enough hot water for that. The bathroom consists of two areas with a door separating the two. The section with the shower doesn't have any sockets. There is highly inadequate storage room. There are only two closets in the whole place. One in the bedroom and one in the kitchen. Have fun storing your linens. There is a storage unit, which is one of the only nice (and by nice I mean convenient) things about the place. The community washing machines are ancient and inefficient. The drier must never be cleaned because it takes forever to dry a load of clothes. There is no coin machine in the laundry room. The yard and parking lot and ALWAYS covered with litter. There is dog crap in the yard. I could really go on and on but I will stop. I think you get the idea. I can say, however, that when you call about something, it is 'fixed' within a day. But please, unless you are desperate as I was for a cheap apartment in order to save money or you can absolutely not afford a penny more, do yourself a favor and look elsewhere.
