Years at this apartment: 2008 - 2009
My fiance and I were approved in November of 2008 for a townhouse that was being built and was scheduled to be finished the first week in January. We gave our notice at our current apartment and then recieved a call stating that it might be another 2 monthes before it is actually finished so I told our current landlord and it was fine with him for us to stay because there was no waiting list for our current apartment. We were then contacted at the end of March and told that we could move in April 3rd so we told the landlord (who already had people waiting) and started packing. 2 days later we were contacted by the office and told that my credit was run again and that since my name was on my ex husband's mortgage, which he didn't pay for 2 monthes, we couldn't move in. The apartment complex was aware that I was on this mortgage and could do nothing about it but all of a suddden it was a problem now. We now had nowhere to move because we gave our notice and people were moving in that weekend. The apartment then held our $100 deposit for all those monthes and wouldn't reissue the check to us for another 10 days after they told us that we could not move in.
