Near the end of our year-long lease, ninety days notice was required before the end of the lease if any changes were to be made. They sent us by certified mail a notice saying that they were increasing the rent. We did not receive this mail. They sent it again by regular mail. When we went in to the office saying that we did want to pay the increase in rent, they said that the lease had been automatically renewed, and it was too late to change anything. It is contrary to PA law to introduce any changes to a lease without the written consent of both parties. They did not obtain this from us. Then, later, when we were trying to find someone to fill the apartment for us (we spent about $120 in advertising), they would not accept any of the people we sent them, including one person who had six years of spotless rental history, and was a manager of a Comfort Inn. They have been unbelievably rude and inflexible, not to mention illegal in their proceedings. We bent over backwards for them so much that our spine broke, but they would not move a millimeter in consideration of our position.
