If you like beer bottles in your yard, a tiny garbage dumpster with trash all around it, a yard that's mowed twice annually if you're lucky, poorly maintained landscaping, and a rotting mansion out front -- come home to Selma Estate. Wait...you need more' Experience the local flavor of the Norristown residents driving their motorcycles up the street at 3 a.m., a fire station just a few blocks away, awful or non-existent maintenance who avoids your phone calls until you go banging on their front door and no onsite management and no frills, consider these LUXURY APARTMENTS. Still not satisfied' Move here if you want poorly maintained entrance ways, broken doorbells, shattered FLOOR to CEILING glass blocks, wall to wall crusty, gray carpet and ill-fitting cabinets. And just when you thought it couldn't get any better--you should experience the mystery landlord, the sidewalk lights that are so avant-garde they don't even work, light bulbs that are never replaced, and creaky floors...swing on in to Norristown's finest. I hate this place.

FYI: As of 12/10/05 most of these issues have not been addresed. Including but not limited to: Bugs in the apartments(have to beg to have an exterminator who still does no good), doorbells in the front and back that have never been repaired despite numerous requests, hallways(common areas) that are absolutely FILTHY even after numerous requests to get the cleaning folks back in this place on a regular basis, years of livign with horrid landscaping thats dead year round, dealing with others dogs who defecate on the sidewalks, leaving hairballs in the common areas that are(and have been there for months on end) not cleaned up by the pet loving owners. While the place is a "bargain", you do have to deal with issues that other apartment complezes prevent and deal with by having clauses in the lease to effectively deal with those tenants who refuse to follow basic rules. The reason the place is always full is simply due to that all those who have animals and have been kicked out of other places come here. In the winter very little if any ice removal or prevention is done, after having wittnessed three different tenants fall, one who was taken to the er most of us are forced to do it ourselves. When you look across the way to the complexe behind selma estates, snow removal is perfect and taken seriously as is ice prevention and removal. Think about what you are willing to give up to have the ammeneties before moving in here. Oh and that lovely delapidated "historic manision" that is supposidly being renovated by the historic society, it hasn't been so much as touched in the long years I've been here and after reading the historic society's database online, there are NO plans int he future to do so. Great, you get live with the condemed house on your lot. That combined with the dead fauna and flora here, causes the local kids to believe it's the local haunted house. Remember, there are serious trade offs when moving in, so be prepared to deal with them. |
