Not the best, and not the worst

Years at this apartment: 2000 - 2004
Most of my issues with Willowbrook fall in line with what most other people have said. Heating and AC are not very good, especially into the back rooms of the apartment. Maintenance will come out and change your filter, but the airflow just isn't strong enough. It also doesn't help that the windows appear to be from the 1950's. Almost all of mine have been broke at one point or another and provide no insulation at all. If you're here during the winter, try to insulate with plastic on the windows.
Bugs were a big problem. The office says they spray, but it never seems to do any good. Probably the price to pay for all the landscaping. Especially the larger trees outside of the apartments. And understand, I was on the second floor, and still had major bug issues all times of the year.
Trash is definitely a bigger pain than it used to be. At one time, there was a dumpster outside every building, or nearby. But that was changed to a compactor. It's nice if you live near the compactor, not fun if you live on the opposite end of the complex. Saves them money on trash collection, but after a weekend, it's usually overflowing. Never take out trash on Sunday night.
Parking has never been an issue, even when I've had visitors. But people do drive fast in the complex. I've almost been hit several times while walking my daughter to or from my car. Speed bumps would be a great addition and would easily slow things down.
Units are a bit noisy, even with the concrete between floors, but this is more of an issue about considerate neighbors. When I've had quiet neighbors, I never knew they were home. It's the people that have to slam doors and party hard until midnight during the week that are the biggest problem.
Here's my bottom line. When I first moved into the place, part of what attracted me to it was the professional / student population of the complex. It wasn't cheap to live here in 2000, and I liked that. Meant the rifraf wasn't going to move in anytime soon. That has now changed. The quality of complex renters has definitely dropped recently, and the complex seems to have a problem renting units. 3 units around me were vacant for several months. And my rent has only increased $10 in the last 2 years, which is now significantly lower than some other complexes in the area. You may think this is a good thing, but not once you see the individuals loitering in dark corners at night. And I HAVE seen this on many occassions. Basically, what used to be a nice place appears to be going downhill fast, and will only get worse. I'm not sure how improvements that need to be made will be affordable to management in the future. My feeling is that Klein has to be losing money on Willowbrook.
Should you move here' If you only need a place to live for a year, maybe 2, then consider it. But in my experiences, you'll grow very tired of the issues mentioned above beyond that. Just don't consider this as your first choice.
