Although the apartments are large with plenty of light - the negatives far outweigh the advantages of this complex. First and foremost is the heat or maybe I should say lack of heat. Be prepared for a long cold winter. No matter what the thermostat is set to - the apartment will still be cold. The heater creates a lot of noise, but little heat. It also makes for an expensive electric bill.
Maintenance - the best way to actually get someone to come to your apartment is to find them on the grounds of the complex and tell them in person. Phone calls do not really work and messages left on the machine are never answered. And if there are problems with the phone be prepared for a long drawn out battle. It seems as if maintenance does not ever want to let Verizon into the mysterious and hidden 'phone room.'
Management and Leasing employees are only interested in getting a lease signed. After that, you are on your own.
The parking lot is a complete nightmare but that is because of the laziness of residents. Everyone wants to park close to the building even if it is not in a real parking space. Cars occasionally get blocked in.
One positive about Alden Park is that it is very quiet inside the apartment.
