I have lived in multiple apartments in philadelphia, and each has it's own ups and dowsn. This is in a great location, it was nicely painted and carpets cleaned when i moved in. After about a month, i realized a lot of wall and doorway damage was just painted over waiting for the next person to get charged for the damage. This winter was freezing. Had to put plastic on the windows as the curtains blew in the breeze. Had to put foam around the front door as it had a nice cold constant breeze. The central heat was absolutely a joke. It never put out warm air it just blows cold air. I eventually turned it off altogether and bought space heaters which are expensive but at least provide heat for the money spent. Bathroom fixtures are from the dollar store. Hot water heater fills the bath tub with about an inch of warm water before it gives out. Kitchen appliances were from 1987 and all are very inefficient and ugly. The office staff for the most part hate their jobs. Always answer the phone as if they hate life and you are annoying them. So eventually you just give up and accept the fact that you will be living in a rental unit without the support of your landlord. But having said all of this, you are paying for a rental unit in a big city. You should have a bar set low. I haven't had any problems with mice or roaches at this apartment. I have had heard bad things from neighbors however. Location is key. you will get over the shortcomings and realize there is no perfect apartment.
