Fantastic apartment, expensive, lousy management in a loud, dangerous neighborhood

Lived on the mezzanine level - a HUGE, absolutely gorgeous 5 BR / 2 bath apartment ... the place was great! No problems with the utilities, lots of sunlight and character. Even for five people this was enough room. Great kitchen, too, with well-maintained utilities and lots of cabinet space. It was expensive, $2,750/month. But for a five-bedroom place in center city, that's about what you expect.
The only two problems:
1) Management is just awful. They are non-responsive and even confusing - I once received notice that I didn't pay rent (I did) and could not even get them to call me back. Finally when I produced proof that I did pay my rent, no apology for the hassle or anything. Also, a maintenance woman who worked here was fired for stealing a friend's credit card. I guess she was one of the bad apples but still, screen your employees.
2) The neighborhood is the pits - prostitutes, homeless folks, trannys and an open air drug trade all over 13th street. A single guy might be fine here and I always felt safe. No woman should walk around this neighborhood by herself at night.
