awful experience

to start my year at chancellor, i had a mice problem...multiple mice problems. Management did not come to take away the dead mice in the traps even after i called, asked in person, and told them that i needed them to be taken away because my parents were coming to visit...nice. This is the loudest place on earth. ground zero for --- night-life in philly. Literally like a huge block party every week from wednesday to sunday nights. there are about 7 or 8 bars w/i a one-block radius from this place that all sorts of people filter out from at 2am. They then head across the street from chancellor to the pizza place that stays open all night. Police have to close this segment of 13th street (bet. locust and walnut) off on weekends because of how many people there are partying in the street. The winter months do not bring any relief...people party at least 100 strong outside the building all year round. I had to sleep with my oven fan on during the winter just to drown out (some) of the awful noise. I once accidently stepped on a tranny's foot on my way out of the pizza place late one night and the guy/girl smacked the pizza out of my hand on to the floor and started yelling calling me all sorts of names that i've never heard before. People sell drugs on this block all the time everything from weed to crack. the police are no better. they drive around in their cop cars and simply ring the siren when something happens ,rarely do they get out of their cars...sometimes they're even louder than the crowd without actually doing anything. There are roaches in the laundry room, trash piles up to the ceiling and stinks everywhere. there are mice i nthe trash room too. when you trow your trash onto the milehigh pile from the doorway (cuz you can't actually get into the room), you can see the little mice run out from under the piles. Oh and one time i woke up in the middle of the night to my range igniting. all four ranges were sparking but not actually catching...this sparking went on for about 10 mins before it stopped. it was like this place needed an exorcism. Other than the awful, loud, drug and tranny infested neighborhood, there are a few good things: great gym discount, apartments are nice, door is locked 24/7 (but that's only b/c it absolutely needs to be). If you live here, get an apt on the 20th floor or higher.
