I really wish I had read a review of The Chancellor before moving into my apartment. I've lived here for a year now and I would not recommend this place to anyone; young or old. The rent is really high for the quality of living and the staff is rude and unhelpful. The floor boards break really easily when you walk around the apartment and there are ALWAYS ---- roaches; it's really gross. During the winter, the windows are extremely lose and it can get down right freezing in the apartment. The bathroom is so tiny and our window in the bathroom never shut so we were often showering with spiders and baby ---- roaches. Not to mention that we couldnt even see through the windows because of the thick build of pollution. Our view was nice but we really couldn't see anything. The kitchen is really tiny in the one bedrooms and there is zero counter space. Also, there are always smashed ---- roaches down in the laundry room in the basement. The elevators are often broken and it is a down right pain in the A** to move in and out of this place.

Please don't give this place your business... it really isn't worth it.

I would have to say the rent is just about spot on when you consider the location of the Chancellor. I guarantee you will not find something this nice while still in this price range for this part of the city. However, the management is my biggest complaint about the Chancellor. The staff is extremely unhelpful and very lazy. When you??re trying to sign a lease, having to deal with incompetent building management is the last thing that you want to do. However, if you need anything done for maintenance, they will do it quickly and efficiently. I have lived here for a few years and have only seen one roach (already dead in the laundry room). Other than that, I have seen absolutely no bugs in or around my apartment. The windows are getting up there in age, which can cause a few chilly nights on occasion. But as long as if it isn??t completely freezing outside, the cold air coming in through the windows isn??t a problem. Elevators have never been an issue in the past two years since I have been here. Yes, getting the elevator around 8:30AM is rather slow, but just give yourself a couple extra minutes in the morning if you are on a high floor (having to wait a few minutes should be expected in a 24 story high rise with just two elevators). Overall, I would not rate the Chancellor as harshly as you; it??s a cute old building with a lot of nice character. I would recommend the Chancellor to anyone who is looking for a nice, well-kept building in the heart of Philadelphia.

I think you're being hard on the Chancellor. I've lived at the Chancellor going on a year now and I say that I really like it here. The Manager was great with helping me through my lease signing. She explained everything to me. I would like to mention her by name, but I'm not sure if I should. I do know that she was new to the building when I signed my lease last year. Part of why I chose the Chancellor was the personal attention that I received. Yes, the elevators are slow at times, but I'm realistic in the sense that I don't expect absolute perfection. The price is reasonable, my apt is nice, and the staff is nice to me. What more could I want?

I like it here. It's close to school and my job. I haven't seen any bugs and I don't feel any drafts from the windows. But I have seen an exterminator here, so maybe you need to report this to the office. I'm on an upper floor and see fine outside my windows. Maybe lower floors get the dirt from the street on their windows. I think the manager is named Tracy, she came just after I moved in last year. I have only spoken to her once, but she seemed nice. You mention the lack of space...didn't you see the apartment before moving in? They showed me the exact apartment, it's not big but I knew what I was getting and I thought the rent was good after checking out other places.
